Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a torrid period, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

His defensive play style and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
